For these congressional elections the candidates will be elected for 6 years.SANTO DOMINGO. The Central electoral Board (JCE) reported that the Organization of American States (OAS) has confirmed that it will send a mission of Election Observers with a view of looking at the 16 May elections. According to a note sent by the Public Relations department of the JCE, the international organization confirmed its participation in a letter sent by its secretary general, Jose Manuel Insulza to the head of the JCE, Julio Cesar Castaņos Guzman. The move came after receiving an invitation from the Dominican electoral board. Insulza pointed out in the letter that "he accepts with pleasure the invitation". Likewise he is grateful for grateful for" the confidence of the democratic institutions of the Dominican Republic in the work being conducted by the OAS aimed at strengthening democracy in the hemisphere".
