Sosua
Sosua, located east of Puerto Plata.
The coast of Sosua's borders a large coral reef so the diving, snorkeling and diving are common activities here. The city is divided by two distinct neighborhoods with a large bay of white sand: Los Charamicos (western side) and El Batey (eastern side).
Los Charamicos is predominantly occupied by Dominicans who make their living through fishing, tourism jobs or small businesses. On the other side is the neighborhood of El Batey. This is a resort packed full of establishment, hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, all focused and oriented toward the tourist. Sosua is known throughout the island for its dairy and meat products.
Playa Sosua, near Puerto Plata and Playa Dorada, is probably one of the main attractions in the northern Dominican Republic. The beautiful turquoise waters of the Atlantic and the vast expanse of golden sand lends itself to be the perfect place for a long walk.
